Preorders for peony roots for the fall season are open now. We will open for order pickup, gift shopping, and demonstrations on the three first Saturdays in November. Details are on our Root Shop page. 

About The Peony Fields

The Peony Fields are on the grounds of a private home in Inman, SC. There are over 50 varieties of peonies planted over 14 fields that together cover about 2.5 acres. There are 6000 peony plants on display at The Peony Fields, and they bloom over about a four-week time period from mid-April to mid-May. They don't all bloom at the same time, however. Each variety will bloom for just a few days, and their overlapping bloom times make each visit to The Peony Fields a unique experience.

Dates

Opening day is Thursday, April 16 2026. Notifications will be on the email newsletter, so make sure you're subscribed! (Scroll to the bottom of this page to sign up.)

Join us for Peony Watch 2026, where we've got a camera set up on the fields so that you can watch as they come alive for the season. 

Hours

When we open this year, we'll be open 10-4, 7 days a week, until the last bloom fades. That's generally about 3-4 weeks, so don't delay making plans for your visit. 

Entry

Admission is $10/guest at the gate. Tickets are only presold for picnics, special events, and tours. (See below) Admission does not include cut flowers. Cut flowers will be available in the gift shop. Admission, plants, and gift shop purchases can all be made with cash or card. 

The exception to admission at the gate is a Season Pass. This is a great way to engage with The Fields if you live close enough to come multiple times over the short season.

Special Events

Picnics are held on Friday and Sunday evenings from 6-8 during the season. Picnic tickets include a table and a floral arrangement, and a charcuterie box can be added on. 

Come enjoy an evening among the peonies. Bring your own picnic or purchase one of our charcuterie boxes. Ticket is per table and includes admission from 6-8 to the fields.  Charcuterie boxes are available in two sizes, charcuterie box for two and charcuterie box for four from All Things Sweet and Savory, orders for these close a week before the event.

Reservations will include a table for 2 or 4 with a peony centerpiece that you will be able to take home with you. 

Tours are held on weekdays from 9-10 am. These are great for garden clubs or other groups, and include about an hour's worth of guided tour and discussion about peonies, their culture and history, and the farm. 

What to expect

-There are bathroom facilities at The Fields, convenient to the gift shop. 

-There are picnic tables near the pond, and you're welcome to bring your lunch. Please make sure to clean up after yourself. Trash cans are provided. 

-There is a nursery with potted peony plants to purchase. Click here for our current availability.  

-There is a guest guide, new this year, with activities such as a photo scavenger hunt, and a fragrance hunt. Art supplies will be stocked in the shop to allow you to engage with The Fields through art.

-There is no you-pick. Cut flowers will be available in the gift shop. 

Please understand that there are all the hazards associated with being outdoors on a farm at The Peony Fields. 

There's uneven ground. There are ants. There's a pond. Please bring closed-toe shoes, your common sense, and leave all pets at home.
